Camera Obscura
At the start of my first year in grad school, I turned my studio into a camera obscura. I spent the first semester getting to know the fence outside my window and posing with it for large scale contact prints. The fence and all its flaws reminded me that we are all here on this planet for such a small amount of time, especially compared to a big wooden wall that has seen many faces including mine.
Most of these prints, if not all, took 8 minutes to expose. 8 minutes of being present and aware of my time on earth as well as being aware of how I am spending that time.
